In The Beginning there was a Man a Table a Mission and a Dream. The vision was developed in 2004 by a man who would not take no for an answer. Since then hard work persistence and Drive has been the fuel which has kept the light burning in Black and Nobel. Black and Nobel Books is considered to be many things to many people; a bookstore, a major distributor a Publishing House and shipping, and a grassroots marketing company as well. When you walk inside the doors of Black and Nobel, you will see first hand why the community calls it home.
5 years, ago in a community well known for major drug trafficking, Hakim Hopkins sat a box of books on the ground that can now be looked upon as the first brick laid in building Black and Nobel. People often testify with pride on how they watched Black and Nobel go from the stand to the store to a movement. People are proud there is now an entity within the community that promotes positive movements and progression.

Black and Nobel is symbolic of the neighborhood barber shop or hair salon; it is the widely sought meeting place in the community. Authors, small business owners, musicians, promoters and more converge on a daily basis to 1409 W. Erie ave. in Philadelphia, a place where stories and ideas evolve and hard work is The cornerstone in place within the Black and Nobel network.

There are currently several divisions of Black and Nobel. There is Black and Nobel Marketing, wholesale and retail. Black and Nobel Books ships to prisons, participates in vending opportunities, and wholesales the entire catalog.
