Violence was clearly her forte, as demonstrated by the time she and a cousin of mine were at a Chinese restaurant, just off of Broadway near 110th street. After they were done eating, the waiter began demanding a gratuity before he had even placed the check on their table. "You give tip...tippy...tippy." My cousin said to the guy, "You better tip yo' ass away from this mothafuckin' table," then he and the server began to argue. My mother interjected a few words, but then she abruptly stopped my cousin in mid speech. Glaring at the waiter, she growled "C'mon! We're gettin' the fuck outta here."

They left the restaurant and walked to the car. Once they were settled in their seats, my mother told my cousin to back up, which he prompty did. When they reached the front of the restaurant, my mother, without warning, pulled out her six shot, 38-caliber snub nosed pistol and emptied it through the bustling establishment's front window. My cousin was shocked speechless, but when my mother calmly placed her pistol back into her pocketboook and ordered him to pull away, he quickly composed himself and slammed his foot on the gas pedal. As they sped away my mother laughed until tears rolled down her face.
